Are some people more prone to gum disease than others? ?

shulingfong asked:

My husband and l have the same oral hygiene. Brushing twice a day, same diet. So why do l have early stages of gingivitis and he has healthy gums?

He doesn’t’ even floss or use mouthwash, just wondering.

Maybe he has a stronger immune system or more resilient gums? You could be eating more sugary or acidic food that is affect your mouth during the day. Everyone is different, and just because you have the same routine it doesn’t make your gums the same.

it could be how you brush. watch him and see if you do it the same way and as long as he does. i suspect you will see a difference in methods.

if you don’t floss you have to get a teeth cleaning at least once a year to prevent gingivitis.

This would be DNA. The way that everyone is made up is not the same. I know people who do not have the best dental hygiene and have no problems… I know other people who are OCD about oral hygiene and have some problems… I guess that my best advise is to see a dentist and change some of your home care. Oral B has a hummingbird flossser that is great and around $5 at any drug store. Good luck

You simply have to be more proactive.
Sweeping gently down onto the teeth from inside the cheek on the upper and seeping up onto the bottom teeth will resolve your bleeding gum problem. Don’t forget to gently sweep from your pallet on the inside teeth also. This will force blood into areas where circulation might not be as strong as your husbands. Give this method a week.
Eating lots of green leafy vegetables helps too! As a woman you should be aware of an Iron deficiency.

Your hormones. Estrogen has an effect on our oral health. However I would definately recommend flossing daily to prevent the gingivitis from getting worse.
